Aztec Hotel 1st Bad Review
Like Fawlty Towers - I really wanted this hotel and the experience to be great as we had booked the summer one night escape for our Anniversary. Sadly it was issue after issue; On arrival our room wasnt ready, not an issue, went for afternoon tea. It was lovely apart from the fact there was a 45min wait and we then got the bill to find it was £24 per person (this is not stated anywhere), we were also charged for chips that never came. Not wanting to make a fuss we paid and checked it, there was a cue by this point so we didnt have much time before our spa session, sadly the champagne, fruit and gift set were not provided (these extras were part of our deal), also wished they had told us the the time we booked the spa was the time children were allowed (I love children and have my own but wanted a peaceful experience on this occasion), so after too many rowdy children we left. I spoke to reception who did provide the champagne and gift set but still no fruit. The food for dinner was lovely, although the husband got stung by a wasp which was awful, no assistance offered in any way by the hotel, I know they cant provide medication but just a little acknowledgement might have been nice. We returned to our room to find the air con unit had been leaking all over the bedside table, we called reception and someone came up about 10am (there went our romantic night) was told there was nothing that could be done and there were no other rooms available so we would have to deal with it. We put a towel down and went to bed but had to turn the air con off to try to stem the drip, this made the room unbearably hot and didnt sleep a week, along with the fact the bed has a huge gap down the middle as its 2 beds pushed together. The only reason its been given more than 1 star is the food (for dinner) was nice, the shower was nice and the staff were lovely. But please dont book anything more than your basic room here, wouldn't have been such an issue if we paid £70 ish but our stay was over £300 for the night and therefore am very disappointed. I'll also point out our room was not clean, glasses etc were filthy, although reception did replace when asked. Would I stay again, probably not. If I did I would book a basic room, perhaps one that had a patio, as ours 'the best room in the house' didnt have a patio or double doors.

Aztec Hotel 2nd Bad Review
Really poor customer service. Booked this hotel and was looking forward to a fantastic stay as outlined in other reviews. I contacted the hotel by email and was told that I couldn't book the spa until 24 hours beforehand. So the day before my stay which was for my husbands 40th birthday, I was advised upon calling that there was only availability at 6.30am on the Sunday. When I queried how it had become booked up so quickly they advised that I could have booked the spa in advance had I booked directly with them. Why not advise of this when I emailed over 2 weeks prior! I was met with a rude lady who pretty much said it was tough! Oh and to make matters worse the only availability for breakfast was at 7am also! The manager (i presume it was a manager as the girl at reception said she'd put me through to someone who would help) I spoke to was curt and not at all bothered by my situation and complaint! Fortunately we managed to book another hotel and make dinner reservations at very short notice at establishments that went out of their way to accommodate us considering the importance of the occasion. I was very saddened by the complete lack of regard shown by this particular manager at the Aztec. Very poor attitude and customer service.

Aztec Hotel 3rd Bad Review ... Room very dated and not like website photos! - I have stayed at the Aztec before and have found it to be fabulous. However this time round the room we were put in was so old fashioned, it did not match the photos on the website or what we have previously seen! The bed and pillows had obviously seen better days and to be honest was one of the worst nights sleep I have ever had in a hotel. I appreciate that during Covid they may be choosing to put all customers that check in on the same night in one corridor so they can alternate rooms during changeover but given how quiet the hotel was I really also didn’t think it appropriate for them to stick us next to a family room. On our walk back to reception in the morning the doors were open on a few rooms that were getting cleaned and they were modern and fresh. Did we just happen to get really bad luck with our room? Or do they actually have loads of really dated rooms and it’s just a case of luck? Feeling really disappointed as had looked forward to this break. I would actually say that the ‘lodge’ across the road is cheaper and actually a nicer bedroom than what we had from the main ‘luxury spa
